Thank you for sharing this beautiful pattern. I’ve only done a few simple doilies so far, but your post has inspired me to start on a holiday tablecloth. It will be my biggest project thus far. Hopefully I’ll have enough by the end of next year. What joining method did you use? Did you add an edging of single crochet (sc) around the motif before you joined them?

I have another question (I hope you don’t mind). Following the graph, I started the motif with a ring of 9 chains, which leaves a hole about 0.3 cm wide in the center. However, in your photo, the center holes of your motifs are very small, almost closed. Should I start with a magic circle instead? I am using a size 8 cotton crochet thread with a 1.5 mm hook. I am considering using a 1.75mm hook if it will the center hole appear smaller.
